Hands Shaped Like a Cradle

Advent Text Version

Music by Ron Klusmeier
Words by Fred Kaan
Tune Name: MILLAR

Lyrics as Poetry

Put hope into each other’s hands
and like a treasure hold it,
protect it like a candle flame,
with tenderness enfold it.

Put peace into each other’s hands
and like a treasure hold it,
protect it like a candle flame,
with tenderness enfold it.

Put joy into each other’s hands
and like a treasure hold it,
protect it like a candle flame,
with tenderness enfold it.

Put love into each other’s hands
and like a treasure hold it,
protect it like a candle flame,
with tenderness enfold it.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

The Piano Accompaniment and Easy Piano Accompaniment files are from the Communion and Interfaith versions. When using either of them with this Advent Version, simply skip the [1,2,3,4] ending and go directly to the 5th ending if you are using just a single verse at a time.

This version of “Hands Shaped like a Cradle” can serve as an introit or opening song for the four Sundays of Advent. It is also effective if it is sung just before, during or after the Advent Candles are lit. Either sing just the single appropriate verse for the week, or consider adding a verse each week so that at Week Four all of the verses are sung.

POSSIBILITIES:
• congregational song
• choral offering
• children’s choir or group
• solo (same voice each week, or four separate soloists)
• if solo, group or choir, consider singing from back of church
