God Made Flowers
• An all-ages song
Music by Ron KlusmeierWords by Walter Farquharson
Tune Name: CENTRAL BUTTE
Lyrics as Poetry
God made flowers, God made trees,
caterpillars, and bumble-bees.
God made elbows, God made knees,
pollens and dusts that make us sneeze.
Help us, God, to love and care,
laughs and tickles and hugs to share.
Help us, God, to love and care,
laughs and tickles and hugs to share.
•
God made children, grown-ups too,
gave us all some work to do.
Help us, God, to love you more,
keep good friends and find some more.
Help us, God, to love and care,
laughs and tickles and hugs to share.
Help us, God, to love and care,
laughs and tickles and hugs to share.

Comments About Song
BY WALTER FARQUHARSON
This is a song of joy and a celebration of things for which we can give thanks.
It was actually written using a list of things offered by a Sunday School class comprised of Kindergarten and Grades One and Two children.
Not everything the children listed was included in the song. They weren’t hesitant about creating a very long list of things, people, and things experienced.
Sometimes we just need to make such lists – and, if so inclined, make the list into a song to sing. If we do it honestly, the list may include some pretty ridiculous things. It may also include some very serious things. Often there’s a thin line between the ridiculous and the serious. And we can be thankful for that.
It was the children who expressed the idea that sharing good things was probably the most important way we had of serving God. Sharing helped us to make friends, and to be friends.
