A Profound Loss

My dear friend and writing partner Shirley Murray died today, January 25 (January 24 here in North America).  I’m feeling an emptiness that is beyond my ability to articulate.

Even with recent health challenges, Shirley somehow managed to remain witty and upbeat.  In a recent message she wrote: “I’m not able to type a great deal at the moment – the old heart etc. is being a nuisance.  The important thing is to live it up!  So I rely on you, dear friend – with love and balloons!  Shirley”

For the gift of countless insightful poems to people throughout the world and the privilege to be among her circle of friends, I give thanks – even as I weep.
