Fingertips Are Tingling
Words by Walter Farquharson
Tune Name: FINGERTIPS
Lyrics as Poetry
Fingertips are tingling
with God’s New Day at hand.
Promised things are happening,
so come and with us stand.
Justice like a river
flows round both you and me.
Captives all are dancing,
for love has made them free.
Mercy sees a neighbour,
calls out to new-found friend.
Ancient walls are crumbling
and old divisions end.
Here, in God’s creation
respect to all is shown;
earth becomes a heaven
where trees of peace are grown.
Fingertips are tingling,
alive with hope made real.
Strength today is given
to welcome and to heal.

Presentation Suggestions
“Fingertips Are Tingling” is crying out for a musical setting. I haven’t composed one yet, but it’s definitely on the ‘to-do’ stack. Despite searching, it hasn’t been possible to find an existing tune which will scan with the 6666 text. However, until a melody ‘appears’, we can appreciate “Fingertips” as poetry, RK
